An accepted variety of Desmodium procumbens in the Fabaceae native to Tropical & Subtropical America, this creeping annual or subshrub grows mainly in seasonally dry tropical biomes and is commonly known as Creeping Beggarweed. It features uncinate-puberulent stems that are sparsely pubescent; leaves that are 1- and 3-foliolate with an acute apex; and loments that are distinctly spirally twisted and stipitate, with a stipe of 1.5–3.5 mm and 2–3 articles.

Outdoors it tolerates USDA Hardiness Zones 9a–11b and requires abundant, bright direct light, ideally within about 1 ft of a south-facing window, with soil that is well-draining and enriched with organic matter; repot after doubling in size or once a year. It is safe for humans and pets.
