Queen of the Prairie is a Rosaceae herbaceous perennial native to the northeastern and central United States and southeastern Canada, it forms tall, clump-forming stands with erect stems reaching about 6–8 feet, and features deeply divided, palmately arranged leaves with 7–9 leaflets, large panicles of pink flowers rise in early to mid-summer for a striking, airy display, in cultivation, it prefers full sun to part shade and consistently moist, fertile soil, tolerating a range of moist conditions but intolerant of drought, it spreads by creeping rhizomes to form colonies and is well suited for large gardens, naturalized areas, borders, cottage gardens, native plant gardens, wet meadows, or moist areas along streams or ponds, hardy in USDA zones 3–9, propagation is by division in spring or fall, the plant is generally pest- and disease-free with occasional foliar disease and is deer resistant.
